I'm your host, Burt Williamson. I grew up in Riverside, Connecticut, with five older brothers and two younger sisters. It’s a wonder there’s any meat on my bones at all. My mother had to have her own grocery store. Fortunately, she was an amazing cook and mother (going strong today)!
I work out just about every day, walk at the beach and take enough vitamins and supplements to fill a pharmacy, but I still need to visit a chiropractor to keep track of all of my body parts.
My lovely daughter is becoming everything a dad ever could want her to be. She is close to God and has won almost every board and card game we’ve ever played together ... and she’s as well organized as a library. Actually, better.
Oh, and I'm an award-winning, financial planner, so let's get into that kind of stuff, OK?
I've helped thousands of people across the country make informed financial decisions with their business, retirement, investment and insurance matters since 1995.
In addition to being the Financial Strategist at PlanPrep.com, I'm a Certified Financial Planner TM with an economics degree from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut (UCONN).
My business focus is to help you:
Prior to becoming a financial planner, I was an interior designer in my family’s iconic shop, The Copper Lantern, in Old Greenwich, CT. It was on Sound Beach Avenue until 2004.
My father, Fred Williamson, had the great sense to have me learn the design business from the ground up by working with (for) many of the various contractors to learn their unique crafts.
Those experiences helped me refine my communication skills and accurately specify the work.
Applying this same bottom-up education process has enabled me to build my knowledge and skill set for providing exceptional financial advice.
It all started in 1995 with the amazing training and talented people at American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise) in Connecticut.
I became a member of the Advanced Advisor Group, and won awards from my colleagues and the president of the company for my top-notch planning skills.
The distinction of being named as a master presenter allowed me to give seminars to American Express cardholders in Fairfield County.
Most of those at the events became clients of the advisors in attendance.
The experience I gained in advanced estate and business planning with Hartford Life lead to my being hired by LPL Financial (a large independent broker/dealer) to be their Senior Planning Specialist.
Advisors from across the country called me to advise them on their clients’ unusual, complex financial, estate and business planning matters.
